The 2nd of May 2009 has been confirmed as the ringside date for Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao. Apparently Manny only agreed to the fight after daring his long-time friend Rex Salud (a non-drinker) to down three bottles of beer… which he did! After negotiations with the Hatton Camp, all is set for the fight.

Rumours were set off straight away after the De la Hoya vs Pacquiao match, that the fight against Hatton would be held at London’s Wembley Stadium. This had shown to be a popular choice amongst Brits and Filipinos, as everyone anticipated the excitement of it being held in London. This has now been clarified and will officially take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA.

With a date and venue now confirmed, will any of you be parting with your hard-earned cash to attend one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the year?! Most importantly, will you be supporting ‘Queen & Country’ or our ‘Homeland Hero?’.

Let us know your thoughts.

It’s a tough one to decide on who to back but i’ll have to sway toward the Pacman. Both fight at high intensity levels, however there are factors that you’ll need to consider, Manny’s last fight again ODLH was a good performance but he didn’t test the Pacman, and the fight against Diaz Manny was up against the 2nd best Lightweight at that time and again he didn’t appear to be tested. Is that a sign of his superiority??? The same can be said for the Hitman, part of me is hoping that his well known fondness for the the beers and pies in between fights will catch up on him on the 2nd May!!!

Either way it’ll be a great fight!!!

Again it will be the battle against strength and power over speed and agility. Manny has proved that speed and agility will come out the winner in the past. Remember this guy has worked his way up from being a flyweight; nine stone to be exact. I think we will see how the bout will end up within the first two rounds of the night, just simply because it is a clash between power and speed, two different but major categories in the lovely illusive world of boxing.
