As Filipino’s we are proud of our heritage and the profound beauty of our culture and its people.
There are Filipino’s that have created their trademarks and have given us a sense of achievement. They have made a difference and have given Filipino’s recognition around the world.
Now there are a variety of influential Filipino’s from different walks of life, who have become global icons and role models. A lot of names come to mind and I guarantee whilst you are reading this, names start to appear on the surface.
The two influential people that I have chosen and who I think have made a difference by inspiring us with what they have become and the success they have achieved are Charo Ronquillo and Monique Lhullier. Both Charo and Monique have achieved global success in the fashion scene.

Charo Ronquillo is the first Filipino Ford Supermodel and has graced the catwalks for the designers and brands such as Kenneth Cole and Lacoste.

Whilst Monique has became a world-renowned established designer, dressing the Hollywood A-list such as Angelina Jolie and Reese Witherspoon. Monique’s name has never been failed to be mentioned during red carpet events such as the Academy Awards.
Today the fashion industry is fierce with a lot of competition, but to earn success, you need to achieve it with hard work and determination. Charo and Monique illustrate this, as they have come a long way and earned their place in the fashion industry. When I hear their names on TV and in magazines I am honoured to say “They are Filipino and so am I”.
For the next few editions I will be highlighting influential Filipino’s that have achieved success in Music, Film and in Society.
If there is anyone that you think should be highlighted, then let us know. It would be great to hear your feedback.

I think people should know more about Francis Magalona.
I agree….In order to know oneself, oneself must know his roots and culture before oneself can truly understand.
