Soul Samurai

Soul Samurai. {Vampire Cowboys}

We don’t get many chances to see Filipino actors on the stage since Miss Saigon went dark on Broadway and here in London’s West End, but I’ve managed to find one! For a few more days at least.

If you’re in the New York area I suggest you check out Soul Samurai, brought to you by Vampire Cowboys. Come on, the name’s enough to get me to want to go. No? Need to know more?

Okay, according to AfterEllen it’s about, ‘Dewdrop (played by Maureen Sebastian), a Filipina American, katana-wielding young lesbian, and her best friend, Cert (Paco Tolson), can kick, stab, and punch their way through the borough.’ Tell me you’re not convinced to go now.

I’ve read a few reviews online and they’ve all been pretty good. So if you’re into comic books, theatre, kung-fu, hip-hop, supporting Filipino actors (coz visibility’s important), or just want a fun night out doing something a little different head out to Sixth Avenue. Tickets are only $25 but it’s only on till March 15th so you need to get a move on. If I could go I most definitely would. But then I’m a comic book geek – and proud of it!

If anyone takes my advice and manages to go let us know how it is.
