There are various charities operating a number of causes, many are both foreign and Philippine founded. A few of these charities include the ‘Loving Care Street Kids Foundation’, ‘Philippines Children’s Fund of America’ and ‘People’s Recovery Empowerment’. All these campaigns provide assistance for the wellbeing of the Filipino people by providing shelter, food and/or protection. It is crucial that these charities continue to operate because without it, a lot of people will suffer by not receiving aid and help.

 

One particular charity organisation, that I will be focusing on is ’Bantay Bata 163′

 

‘Bantay Bata’ (Look after a Child) is a social welfare program of ABS-CBN and their aim is to protect children from abuse. ‘Bantay Bata’ also provides care and assistance to survivors of abuse; plus undertakes proactive projects for child abuse prevention. As a child welfare program, they not only rescue and rehabilitate the sick and abused children but they also provide shelter, therapy and quality home care for rescued children.

 

The charity’s history began in 1997 as a hotline and rescue operation, which then evolved and became a welfare programme to give direct child protective services, residential services, community and family support services. Their mission is to provide a safe, nurturing and loving environment where children can develop and realise their full potential.

 

Bantay Bata also offers campaigns with a few of their local celebrities by providing assistance to the people that need it the most.

 

We need to create awareness of these reputable charities, so that the reality that surrounds us can be brought to the forefront. In addition, it is also so that they can make a difference by offering their support and donations.
